Protecting the Under Eye Area

8:26 PM

This post won't be about anti-aging products or techniques for the under eye area, it's just simple yet effective methods to prevent/ slow down aging process by protecting the skin under the eyes. And these are the products to do it:

1- Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water: We all know that skin needs to be clean for it to be able to divide in a healthy way. Out of all the eye makeup removers I've tried, I'd give this one a 10/10. It's light weight and very effective. It's the 1st step in preventing skin aging of the under eye area.

2-The Body Shop: Unperfumed Eye Gel: Other than the under eye cream that I'm gonna be talking about next, you need something for the day time. This product is one of the things I keep re-purchasing over and over again ( I even buy them in pairs). It's basically a 2-in-1 product: It moisturizes the skin under the eyes AND acts as a barrier between your skin and the concealer; thus, decreasing the damage that makeup will have on this delicate area.

Pro: It's super light and easily absorbed.

Con: It doesn't have SPF.

3-Benefit: It's Potent Eye Cream: It doesn't say if  it's for the day or night time, but I use it at night  because it has a slightly thick consistency so it's harder to apply concealer above it. I literally wake up feeling as if my under eye skin has been fed and watered and pampered. It's not a cream for anti-aging ( as stated above), but just because you don't have wrinkles yet doesn't mean you won't get them. The under eye area care is just as crucial as the rest of the face, use any eye cream you find suitable ( for day AND night ), the skin there must stay hydrated.

4- Apply Concealer Right: When you put the product under your eyes, don't slide/spread it from the inner eye corner to the outer corner. This will stretch the skin and accelerate the formation of wrinkles. Instead, dab the product on the skin until it's distributed evenly. You can do so using your fingers or a makeup sponge/blender. Also, use concealer in a tube like the picture above and not a roller since roller concealers stretch the skin too.

As a summary: the under eye area should stay clean, moisturized, nourished, & protected, whether we like it or not. It's such a delicate area that many factors around us affect it.
